WELCOME TO KOHA!

KOHA was one of USA Hockey's original ADM Model Associations!

What does that mean for our members?
KOHA has committed to utilizing the American Development Model (ADM) at all levels within our program to provide age-specific, skill-based training for long term athlete development. We believe that KOHA, and Kalamazoo, can be a hockey destination; And we believe that improved player development, in an age-appropriate format, will help us reach that goal.

ADM at the Travel and House B levels:
The ADM requires a practice to game ratio of 3:1 which means that, while there will be a cap on the number of games that can be played at each age division, the skaters will see an increase in ice touches over last year. Practices will incorporate the principles of the ADM: primarily small-area, station-based practices that promote greater skill development and result in greater ice utilization (i.e. - your skater will be moving more and doing more during all of their practices). Along with the cap on the maximum number of games allowed, there will also be smaller roster sizes (i.e. - your skater will get more ice time opportunities during games).

Skill Directors
KOHA's Skills Team will focus on skating, stick/puck handling and goalie coaching. The ADM requires skill directors to be on the ice at least once per week at the Travel and House B levels during their scheduled practices. We look to get skill directors on the ice with our House C group periodically throughout the season, either during regularly scheduled practices, or by offering skills & skating clinics during the season.

We are excited about the upcoming season and can't wait to see you all on the ice as we continue to uphold our Mission statement:

To provide every boy and girl in southwest Michigan the opportunity to enjoy and excel at the game of hockey.
