KOHA SPRING DEVELOPMENT CLINICS

6U/7U/8U HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT

The 6U, 7U, 8U clinic is specifically designed to focus of skill acquisition and enhancement specifically targeting the FOUR essential hockey components:  skating, puck control, passing & shooting.

COST:  $200* for 4 sessions

includes KOHA jersey

KOHA SPRING DEVELOPMENT CLINICS
Featuring the KOHA Skill Development Team Staff
Designed to prep & develop players for 2024/25 tryouts!
10U/12U/14U

The clinic will feature the KOHA Skill Development staff each Tuesday focusing on skill acquisition and enhancement, including further development of the fundamental aspects of the game, such as:  skating; stick handling; shooting; passing; and puck protection.

The clinic will include concepts focusing on improving decision-making and problem-solving skills on Thursday.  The KOHA Skill Development staff will create an environment forcing players to do what the sports asks of them during a game.  Competition scenarios will be introduced, like 1v1, 2V1, 3V2 or 1V2, 2V2 or any number of variations. 

COST:  $330* for 8 sessions

BODY CONTACT & CONFIDENCE/GAPING & ANGLING CLINIC

10U/12U/14U ONLY

The Body Contact & Confidence/Gapping & Angling clinic is specifically designed to focus of skill acquisition and enhancement specifically targeting awareness, body position and body contact.  Each session focuses on helping players develop their confidence in physical situations and reduce the likelihood of injury.  Players will be separated by age and skill set.

COST:  $200* for 4 sessions

KOHA SPRING DEVELOPMENT CLINICS

OFFENSIVE SKILLS CLINIC

10U/12U/14U ONLY

Designed to optimize and enhance a players’ complete skill set.  All areas of skill development will be emphasized. Sessions will be high intensity and players will be challenged and encouraged to push through their comfort levels.  Individual skills and progressions of these skills into individual game skills concepts, such as:  puck protection, cutbacks, attacking seams, weight transfer shooting, shot selection, net front play.

GOALTENDING DEVELOPMENT & TECHNIQUE ACQUISTION

The goaltending clinic is designed to focus on goalie development, skill acquisition and enhancement specifically targeting habits and techniques for the most critical position.

COST:  $375* for 8 sessions

KOHA SKATING DEVELOPMENT CLINIC
Featuring professional POWER Skating Coach Marcie Kierpiec & the KOHA Skill Development Team Staff

6U & 8U | 10U & 12U | 14U & HIGH SCHOOL

The clinic will feature Professional POWER (Performance Optimized With Edges & Reactions) Skating Coach Marcie Kierpiec focusing on skating technique.  The on-ice focus will consist of deep edge control, quick transitions, agility and balance drills as well as many other skating movements that are applicable to the game of hockey.  Marcie is a renowned skating instructor with extensive experience working with hockey players and the USA Hockey National Development Team Program. 

COST:  $250* for 4 sessions

The mission of the Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association (K.O.H.A.) is to provide a safe and inclusive environment for youth of all skill levels to learn, develop, and excel in the sport of hockey. We strive to instill a lifelong love of the game and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership among our players. We pride ourselves on providing age appropriate player development and skill-appropriate coaching.

KOHA exists to offer a premium, affordable opportunity to learn the game of hockey for players in our organization. Through high-quality coaching, training, and competition, we aim to help our athletes reach their full potential on and off the ice. Our ultimate goal is to produce well-rounded, confident, and skilled hockey players who will be successful at all levels of the game
