Many parents wonder "What's Next?" for their player after 8U hockey. KOHA is once again hosting an informational meeting with parents of 2010 birth year players to talk about our program's options for the 2019-20 season.

6pm on Thursday, March 21, 2019
Wings West Ice Arena

While the KOHA staff will be on-hand to facilitate the meeting and provide information,  our hope is that parents will engage, ask questions, and walk out of the meeting with a better understanding of what program best fits their family.

We have invited Mark Olson, co-owner of Athletic Mentors, to talk about the importance of our off-ice partnership in developing athletes. Mark is currently the strength & conditioning coach for The Kalamazoo Wings Hockey Club (ECHL). Prior to founding Athletic Mentors, Mark served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Northern Michigan University after completing his own hockey career with NMU’s National Championship Team in 1991, where he was inducted into NMU’s sports hall of fame.

Also on-hand will be Mark Ostrander, who has coached our 2006 K-Wings team for four seasons. Ostrander was a High School hockey standout at East Grand Rapids HS, spent some time playing junior hockey and was behind the bench at Portage Central High School for 14 seasons. Coach "O" will speak to the landscape of youth hockey in west Michigan over the last couple of decades, and specifically, KOHA's player development philosophy over the last 8-10 years in a very honest and candid way.

We invite 2010 parents especially to this meeting, although all KOHA members are welcomed to attend.

A GIRLS HOCKEY MEETING for parents of female youth players of all ages will take place immediately following the 8U to 10U transition meeting (girls meeting should start at approximately 7:15pm).
