KOHA BRONCOS

2013/14 COACHES ANNOUNCED

2013/14 Fees will be announced soon. Click here for evaluation skate dates & info.

The House B program was designed to provide additional ice time for players to improve their hockey skills and to give them an opportunity to play competitive games in surrounding cities. The KOHA House B program takes part in the Adray B West Division, which incorporates teams as far north as Cadillac and as far east as Lansing. Most games, however, are within an hours drive. We will have House B teams in the Squirt, Pee Wee, and Bantam levels only. All players must register with USA Hockey and provide this information at time of sign ups and also provide a copy of birth certificate.

Each team practices once during the weeknight and either play games or practices on weekends. Every other week there will be a skills skate offered in addition to the regularly scheduled practice time. The program is still geared toward development and fair playing time. There are a total of about 24-33 games, home and away, which includes two or three tournaments depending on cost and approximately 30 to 40 hours of full and split ice practices. Practice days will vary and times will also vary depending on ice availability.

Frequently asked questions:

What is it?
The KOHA house B program is open to all players who are interested in playing (no tryouts). The teams are balanced to the best of the coaches' abilities and play in a league with other house B programs on the west side of Michigan. KOHA only offers this program to players in either Squirt, Peewee or Bantam levels.

Why does KOHA offer this level of hockey?
The B program fits nicely between the internal house league and the travel teams with respect to hours of ice time and cost. It is geared towards player development and is guided by the same principles as the internal house program. In fact players that have played KOHA House B Hockey have gone on to play both travel and high school hockey. The 'B' teams will generally have an hour practice during the week and then either play games or practice on the weekend days. Teams will participate in a couple of tournaments during the year as well.

What is the cost of the program and what does it cover?
The fee includes practice jerseys, home and away socks, home practice and game ice time, referees, Adray league and playoffs, administration and treasurer fees. Game jerseys are a separate fee - typically about $130 for a set (home & away).

You will find that the cost at KOHA is competitive to other teams in the Adray West League for what we offer our skaters.

How do we register?
This will be an open registration with the goal of trying to place everyone on a team. Team sizes will consist of anywhere from 13 players to 20 players maximum (includes two goalies and 18 skaters). The number of teams at each level will vary depending on the amount of players that sign up. We may permit moving a player up an age level if it promotes filling teams that would otherwise be low in players. Players must register on line with USA Hockey prior to registering with KOHA for House B and must bring a copy of their birth certificate to the evaluation skate. CLICK ON THE RED "REGISTER" BUTTON NEAR THE TOP LEFT NAVIGATION MENU OF THIS PAGE TO REGISTER FOR ANY OF OUR PROGRAMS!

Players will be asked to participate in three evaluation skates prior to the season. They will then be drafted on a team according to the guidelines set forth by MAHA.
